Pottinger entered a new era of loading wagons this week as the company unveiled its new Profi 5000 in its home country of Austria.
The Profi name has held its place in the Irish feed sector for years with models such as the Europrofi traveling the length of the country and being shown alongside the highly acclaimed Faro, Torro and Jumbo series.
The new Profi 5000 series is expected to suit these high-level racers, with Pottinger claiming it is the “smoothest model in this category of stroller” it offers.
The Profi 5000 is set to come in eight models, with the smallest machine having a capacity of 26 cubic metres, and the largest at 52 cubic metres.
Smaller models are equipped with a 13t chassis and 17-inch tires; However, if ComfortCut is installed on the machine, the tires will be upgraded to 710/35R22.5.
Larger models have a 16 ton chassis and a 2.5 ton tow bar to allow larger loads to be transported comfortably.

Profi models are equipped with a standard 2.1 floating pickup reel.
From here, the crop passes through a double-toothed rotating system where 31 knives slice the crop into theoretical 45mm long cuts.
The 4mm knives allow the system to pre-cut the crop while reducing the energy required compared to 7mm knives by up to 10%, a move that enables ‘mid-range’ farmers to make their own silage.
The loading force is evenly distributed by sensors that measure the incoming feed and automatically move the pressure cap at the front of the cart, meaning it fills smoothly and efficiently.
EASY MOVE swing-out knife bank is on.
The machine is equipped with an easy-to-move swing-out knife bank as standard to give operators easy access to knives.
There is also an option to install ComfortCut on PROFI models, which is similar to AutoCut on larger models like the Jumbo.
However, the ComfortCut system uses a battery grinder to sharpen knives instead of an automatic cutter.
In essence, the ComfortCut is a track that allows the grinder to slide in and out of each blade without having to remove it.

When it comes to emptying, the system becomes automated again to make the process as convenient as possible.
Boss 5000 Master
Pottinger also unveiled a revitalized model of the Boss 5000 Master wagon in Austria during the week.
She stated that the new Boss is their highest-performance conveyor belt loader, dedicated to high-quality feed with high loading capacity.
Five models are being offered, with the smallest machine having a capacity of 29 cubic metres, and the largest having a capacity of 45 cubic metres.

Pottinger said the new model has been designed with the zero-grazing principle in mind, which is why it has a 5% larger cabin capacity and 0.1m more weight at 2.2m.
It is also equipped with the latest Evomatic loading unit, based on Pottinger’s classic feline conveyor system, but achieving 25% higher loading performance.
The standard machine is equipped with a 1.8m-wide pickup, but larger models have a newly designed 2.1m-long pickup.
Models come with a choice of six, 16 or 31 knife banks, with 31 preferred for silage harvesting.
Like the Profi, the Boss comes with an Easy Move feature to fold the knife bank out for maintenance.

The walking floor has four chain links and two speed settings for quick unloading.
The 13-ton chassis comes standard with 17-inch or 22.5-inch tires, however the larger model can come with a 16-ton chassis.
The axle is solid as standard but can be upgraded to a steering axle, while the 45 cubic meter model on a 16-ton chassis can be fitted with an intelligent steering system, meaning that when reversing or driving over hilly terrain, the axles automatically lock up.
As standard, the wagons also come with ISOBUS and an auto-load function, but can also be equipped with additional power control stations such as the Expert 75.

Eagle-eyed readers may have also noticed the Liquido F 2000 system attached to the tractor in the photo above.
This is Pottinger’s universal feed additive system, with the nozzle head mounted between the picking and loading rotor of the machine.
The Liquido F 2000 can be purchased with a 225 liter hopper or a 400 liter hopper, and produces between 42-240 liters per hour.
Meanwhile, the Liquido F 3000 has a production capacity of 40-470 liters per hour, with two additional nozzles.
