Travala launches the world’s first integrated AI travel protocol

June 11, 2026 – Singapore, Singapore

Travala, the world’s leading cryptocurrency-based travel booking service, today announced the launch of the world’s first AI-powered travel protocol.

This protocol enables independent agents to search, book and pay for more than 2.2 million hotels – including Marriott, Hilton, IHG and other leading hotel chains – without human intervention until the payment is authorized. To accelerate adoption, Travala is offering a 10% discount on cbBTC (Coinbase Wrapped Bitcoin) to developers who create and integrate AI agents with Travala Travel MCP, rewarding bookings made through these agents.

The agency’s economy has witnessed rapid acceleration in the past 12 months, with the total value of agency trade transactions reaching Expected To reach $8 billion in 2026 before rising to an estimated $3.5 trillion by 2031. Morgan Stanley Research Expectations “Agent shoppers” could account for up to 20% of total online retail spending by 2030, driven by the shift towards independent, intent-based digital behaviour. By launching the industry’s first travel protocol for this ecosystem, Travala is creating a global standard that allows agents to navigate global inventory with pinpoint accuracy, effectively replacing manual search and book cycles with more efficient machine-led execution.

Travala Travel MCP, a modular context protocol designed for proxy commerce, uses the underlying blockchain and the x402 protocol, an open payments standard that enables instant stablecoin payments directly over the Internet to APIs, applications, and AI agents without manual checkout flows. This infrastructure removes the friction of traditional booking and payment processes, allowing gas-free USDC transactions on-base with near-instant settlement times and transaction costs of around $0.01 per hold.

For travelers, this technology powers an AI travel concierge capable of planning and executing entire trips within a single thread in the Cloud. The concierge works in a conversational style, maintaining context for your searches, reservations, and cancellations. Security is maintained using ERC-7715 session keys, which ensure that while the agent can request payments, the ultimate signing authority remains isolated within the user’s secure wallet environment.

Developers gain access to an automatic revenue stream via the Travala Developer Discount Program that provides a 10% CBTC programmatic discount on every successful reservation, settled on-chain directly into their developer wallet without the need for manual invoicing. Travala Travel MCP also uses ERC-8004 to anchor agent reputation to verified, real-world results, creating a machine-verifiable “trust layer” that rewards high-performing agents and protects the integrity of the ecosystem.

As the protocol expands, new features will be added to the protocol along with additional travel products, such as flights. The AVA token – the native cryptocurrency used in the Travala travel loyalty program – is also expected to provide additional benefit and support growing use cases for the Travala Travel MCP.

“The launch of the world’s first AI-driven travel protocol represents the end of the exit button and the beginning of a truly autonomous travel economy,” said Juan Otero, CEO of Travala. “By combining our global travel inventory with the industry’s first machine-to-machine settlement protocol, we are effectively tokenizing Travala as the default travel pipeline for the proxy web.”

Sam Frankel, Head of Partnerships at Base, adds: “Base was designed to be the home of the onchain economy, and Travala’s Travel MCP is exactly what it looks like in practice, where developers use our infrastructure to power machine-to-machine commerce seamlessly, autonomously and globally. We’re excited to see Travala leading the charge on real-world use cases for agent payments.”

The rise of agent commerce represents a fundamental shift in the travel industry by moving beyond traditional user interfaces to a protocol-level infrastructure designed for independent agents. As the first travel provider to offer a comprehensive toolkit for AI-powered bookings, Travala positions Travala Travel MCP as the foundational protocol for a future where travel is seamlessly executed by machines.
