ChatGPT AI has just done something that most critics are afraid to do. He filled the entire 2026 World Cup group stage, finishing in the top two in all 12 groups, no hedging, no ‘it depends’, just 12 clean umpires.
So let me tell you what the machine is thinking, because it’s a great combination of playing in the snow and then suddenly getting a little brave.
Start with the easy things, the choices no one will argue with. Mexico tops Group A. Brazil wanders into the third group. Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands topped their groups.
These are layups. Picking Brazil to win a group is like anticipating the sunrise, and the ChatGPT AI knows that, so it pockets the obvious and moves forward. There’s no ego here, and no trying to look clever by fading giant. When the team is that far ahead, you accept it and shut up.
Then there’s Spain, the most AI-confirmed pick on the entire card. Honestly, fair enough. This is a team that is ridiculously unbeaten, and the device places them in first place with Uruguay just behind in second.

The robot finally grows a spine
Now we get to the good part, because a prediction card with no surprises is boring, and obviously the AI knows that too.
The first group is where I raised an eyebrow. Obviously, it doesn’t take any genius for France to win there. But in second place they were edged out by Norway and Erling Haaland, one of the most feared strikers alive, to Senegal.
This is a really bold trend. In fact, the market is leaning the other way, but ChatGPT AI is betting that Senegal’s speed and power are going better than a Norwegian side that relies heavily on its stars.
It’s the kind of call that feels great if it lands and makes you feel embarrassed if it doesn’t. Respect conviction.
Group D is the other group that makes you sit down. Amnesty International placed the US in first place and Turkey in second place, which tells you it believes in the ability of its fans to lift the hosts over the line.
This is the tightest deck on the entire card, and it’s basically a coin toss between these two decks, and the machine has planted its flag on the Americans. A bit of poor patriotism, or just cold logic about land advantage. Either way, you’re committed.
Group B has a similar flavour. Switzerland takes first place, which is reasonable, but the AI gives second place to co-host Canada ahead of more famous names.
You can almost feel the weight of the home soil worker again, betting that playing in front of your fans is worth a few extra points. It’s theme across this card. ChatGPT AI clearly thinks hosting is important in 2026.

The back third is where the chalk goes again, and smartly. Argentina, Portugal and England all won their groups, each paired with a strong and unsurprising runner-up.
Portugal’s nomination is good advice for Cristiano Ronaldo, who is on a record sixth World Cup, and the old king is still expected to drag his team into the next round.
England at the expense of the dull but stubborn Croatia. Argentina barely broke a sweat in Group 10. These are the choices of an artificial intelligence that decided not to overthink the easy things.
So that’s the character that comes through. ChatGPT AI is not a merchant of chaos. Here it is not expected that Haiti will shock the world or that Curacao will begin to run away.
It backed the favorite to win all 12 groups, a move that puts faith in the model book over fairy tales. But it’s not a complete robot either.
She found two or three places, Senegal over Norway, and the host nations crept into second place, trusting their intuition about the obvious answer. This combination is what makes the card fun. Mostly disciplined, sometimes bold, and confident enough to put a number next to each group without flinching.
