As a first-of-its-kind lifestyle wearable device signature brand, UKey reimagines cryptocurrency backup and recovery with a battery-free NFC ring.
Hong Kong, July 10, 2026 – Ukey Limited, a self-custodial hardware brand for cryptocurrency users, today unveiled… Seed ringthe most premium product in the Seed Backup line: an NFC recovery ring you can wear every day.
Unlike hardware wallets designed to be locked in a drawer, UKey set out to do something different from day one – to make hardware signatures and self-keeping something you can wear and fold in everyday life. The seed ring is the first expression of this idea. It will debut alongside UKey’s first product range, and availability details will be announced soon.
Why ring?
In self-custody, what typically determines whether your assets will remain safe is not how you sign – but rather how your seed phrase is stored. Photos, screenshots, and scraps of paper that get lost or damaged remain one of the main reasons why individual users lose their money or get stolen. Most hardware wallets put their effort into security signing and leave the question of how to securely make a backup to the user and a piece of paper.

The Seed Ring can be worn every day like a regular ring – simply tap it on your phone to pair and use.
UKey’s approach is to decouple the two: the signature goes to a dedicated signing device, and the backup goes to the dedicated Seed chain. Seed Ring turns your recovery credentials from a forgotten slip of paper in a drawer into something you wear in your hand – ready with a single click when you need it.
Three things define a seed ring
- No battery, no connection, nothing running in the background. The ring does not contain a battery; It only passively draws power when placed near an NFC-enabled phone, and stops responding the moment you move it away. There are no background processes and no remote connection.
- Ceramic, designed for everyday use. The high-strength ceramic surface resists scratches and daily wear and tear without ever blocking NFC – so you can wear it every day like a regular ring, instead of hiding it in a closet.

High-strength ceramic surface resists scratches and daily wear – wear it as a ring or on a chain.
- Never store the seed phrase in plain text. The loop contains only the index, collation and checksum data needed for recovery – it does not store the complete seed phrase in plaintext. Even if the ring falls into someone else’s hand, the complete initial statement cannot be read from it.
More seed series on the way
The Seed Ring is the first product in the Seed Series, not the whole story. Lined up behind him are two other spare comrades: Seed cardA credit card-sized backup that can fit in a wallet or card holder, and seed ttitanium backup designed to survive fire and water. Different variations, same idea — your recovery credentials should fit the way you actually live, and none of them store your seed phrase in plaintext. More details about the Seed Card and Seed Ti will follow via official UKey channels in the coming weeks.
UKey philosophy
From UKey’s point of view, something you wear in your hand should be safer than a note in a drawer. The industry has spent years perfecting the signing step, but most people who lose their coins lose them because of how their seed phrase was stored. What UKey wants to build is backup and signature that are no longer cool utilitarian tools – but things you can wear and live with.
