Met Éireann is forecasting dry weather and high temperatures for most of the week, before more unsettled conditions emerge next weekend.
It will be warm or very warm today (Monday 22 June), with a mix of clouds and sunny spells this morning, and cloudier for Connacht and Ulster with some rain and drizzle. Periods of good sunshine will become more prevalent from the south during the afternoon.
Although the weather will remain dry for most areas, some severe thundershowers are possible, especially in the south and east. Highest temperatures will be between 22° to 27° generally, slightly cooler in parts of Ulster and the nearby coasts with light or variable, sometimes moderate, easterly breezes near the coasts.
The weather tonight will be moderate, dry and largely clear, with foggy spots appearing and light variable breezes. Temperatures will not drop below 12 degrees to 17 degrees.
The drought will continue for most of tomorrow (Tuesday, June 23), with long periods of sunshine. The weather will be somewhat cloudy at times in the west and north, with the possibility of scattered light rain.
The highest temperatures will be between 22 degrees to 28 degrees or 29 degrees in general, and the warmest in the south and east, ranging from 19 degrees to 21 degrees near the Atlantic coasts, with light, sometimes moderate or variable westerly breezes.
It will be dry and mostly clear early tomorrow night, before clouds develop from the west with the possibility of light rain or drizzle in the northwest. Some southern and eastern regions will remain clear.
Temperatures tomorrow evening will not drop below 13 to 18 degrees, with light or variable northern breezes blowing and some foggy spots appearing.
As for Wednesday (June 24), the weather will be relatively cloudy in the morning away from the south east With a few spots of light rain or drizzle.
The cloud will break through during the day with periods of sunshine and some rain as well, especially in the northwest and west.
Maximum temperatures on Wednesday range from 22 to 29 degrees, which is generally highest in the southern half of the country, with light or variable easterly breezes.
Wednesday night will see a mix of clouds and clear spells. The weather will be dry in most areas, but some rain is possible, especially in the northwest.
Temperatures do not fall below 13 degrees in the north and 18 or 19 degrees in the southwest, with light and sometimes moderate eastern breezes blowing.
Thursday (June 25) will be a hot day. It will be dry and sunny at first, but some rain may fall during the day, and possibly heavy and thundery, especially in the northwest in the evening. Maximum temperatures range between 25 and 31 degrees in general, and winds are southeasterly, light to moderate.
The weather will become more cloudy from the south overnight, with intermittent rain and drizzle. Overnight temperatures will not drop below 15 degrees to 19 degrees.
Friday (June 26) will see a mix of clouds and sunshine with heavier and more persistent rain in the western half of the country. Maximum temperatures range between 19 and 25 degrees, and the warmest temperatures are in the east, and the winds are mostly moderate southerly.
At the end of next week, the weather will become more disturbed, with rain, showers and falling temperatures.
