DAFM is reviewing specifications for certain ACRES NPIs

The Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine (DAFM) recently confirmed that the application window for non-productive investments (NPIs) under the Agricultural and Climate Rural Environment Scheme (ACRES) has opened.

NPIs are voluntary measures available to farmers in the ACRES collaborative approach.

Actions seek to address on-farm environmental issues, contribute directly to environmental goals or increase farmers’ ability to improve field results through management.

The deadline to apply for NPIs in this window is Wednesday, October 14, 2026.

In a circular issued to ACRES consultants, to divide He noted that this NPI application window will be the last opportunity to submit applications on behalf of farmers who have been approved for the ACRES Collaboration Approach as of January 1, 2023 (first tranche participants).

This is because the contracts for the first tranche of ACRES are scheduled to expire on December 31, 2027, the ministry said.

ACRES consultants can complete and submit Annual Business Plans (AWP) for NPI through the Department’s General Land Management Mapping (GLAM) system.

Only one NPI AWP can be submitted to an ACRES Collaboration participant in this submission window.

The DAFM said that the annual business plan and application may only be amended at the draft stage. Once submitted, no further changes will be possible.
