The bank holiday weekend will see mixed weather, with periods of rain and showers, and cooler temperatures, according to Met Éireann.
It will start out very dull this morning (Friday 1 May) with patches of mist and mist remaining in places. Scattered rain is expected later this afternoon, heavy at times, and more frequent in the west towards the evening.
Occasional sunny spells will also develop with higher temperatures ranging from 13°C to 18° or 19°, balmy in the east, with light to moderate southerly winds.
The weather remains cloudy throughout the night with scattered rain, sometimes becoming heavy. Minimum temperatures range from 6 to 10 degrees, with patches of mist and mist forming with light southerly winds.

tomorrow (Saturday(May 2) Another cloudy day will be in store with widespread showers, although some brighter periods will develop during the day. Rain will be heavy at times, with the possibility of thunder.
It will be much cooler tomorrow, with highs ranging from 12 degrees to 16 degrees with light southerly breezes.
Tomorrow night, widespread rain will continue at first, with fog emerging from the west overnight.
Dry and sunny spells will develop over the northern half of the country the following morning with minimum temperatures ranging from 7 degrees to 11 degrees. Fog and mist will also develop with light southeast breezes.
Sunday (May 3) The weather will be generally cloudy, but sunny spells will develop throughout the day with scattered rain, some turning to heavy at times with the possibility of thunder.
Maximum temperatures range between 12 and 15 degrees, with light northeasterly winds.
Clearer periods will develop eastward through Sunday night, with scattered showers gradually fading away. The weather will remain cloudier in the west. Minimum temperatures will be 3 to 8 degrees, and winds will be light to moderate northerly.
Bank holiday on Monday (May 4) It will be a generally cloudy day for most, but will remain mostly dry except for some light rain and drizzle. Maximum temperatures range between 10 and 14 degrees, with light to moderate northern breezes.

Tuesday (May 5) The weather will remain cloudy with light rain and scattered drizzle, gradually appearing from the north until the evening. High temperatures will range from 9 to 13 degrees, warmest in the south.
According to Met Éireann, current indicators for the rest of next week indicate that we will see the return of high pressure, which will make conditions drier, although they will remain cloudy.
The weather should become milder toward the end of next week as well, the national forecaster said.
