ABP Food Group today (Friday 1 May) announced the acquisition – by its subsidiary ABP GmbH – of Vion Food Group’s beef processing facility in Germany.
The acquisition, which is subject to antitrust approval as well as other customary closing conditions, is expected to be completed during the second half of 2026.
The Vion Buchloe site is a slaughterhouse and bone cutting facility, located in the Allgäu region of southern Germany.
It has “strong, established relationships with the local agriculture industry,” according to a statement from the company.

Beef processor
ABP Food Group and its subsidiaries are one of Europe’s leading privately owned agricultural companies and are the largest beef processor in Ireland and the UK, according to the manufacturer.
The company also operates renewable (Olleco), pet food (C&D), and protein divisions.
ABP employs more than 14,000 people and has more than 50 manufacturing plants operating in nine countries.
In Ireland, ABP Food Group last month announced the opening of its Wagyu program to new farmer applications.
The ABP Wagyu program has been running for several years and offers dairy farmer members free artificial insemination (AI) hay and a guaranteed minimum price for their calves.
