India’s Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested a Mumbai-based suspect and identified him as the main trafficking kingpin who directed Indian nationals to cryptocurrency scam complexes in Myanmar’s Myawaddy region, a cross-border enforcement action gathering intelligence leads from Thailand, Myanmar and Cambodia.
This operation represents one of India’s most operationally specific attacks to date against Southeast Asia’s complex fraud ecosystem.

The CBI identified Ramakrishnan as the main facilitator through ongoing surveillance that tracked his return to India, following detailed accounts from Indian nationals who fled KK Park.
These victims were returned from Thailand in March and November 2025, and direct interviews with them yielded the intelligence that mentioned his name.
The operational model that Ramakrishnan allegedly ran was meticulous. Victims were recruited in Delhi with promises of legitimate work in Thailand, taken to Bangkok, and then transferred to Myanmar’s Myawaddy region, a corridor that ethnic armed groups turned into an organized cybercrime hub after seizing control from Myanmar’s junta in 2024.
Once inside KK Park, the victims faced wrongful confinement, physical abuse, and forced participation in cryptocurrency investment scams and romance scams targeting victims globally, including India.
The CBI said searches at Ramakrishnan’s residence in Mumbai yielded incriminating digital evidence linking him to operations in both Myanmar and Cambodia, confirming that the network extends beyond a single compound or geographic area.
The agency directly stated that he served as the “key leader in the smuggling of unsuspecting Indian nationals into cyber fraud complexes in Myanmar,” and that it continues to pursue other accused individuals, including foreign nationals.
This is important because the trail of evidence is now well-documented and cross-border. This is not an arrest for circumstantial reasons; It is a case built on survivor testimony, digital forensics, and international repatriation coordination.
