Terlan announced that it will extend the time frame of its support package to help farmers cope with dry conditions and potential drought.
Support available under this procedure, Which was first announced earlier this monthwill now apply to all eligible orders between July 10 and August 15.
The measure originally applied to orders through August 5.
According to Terlan, this measure is intended to help address the ongoing impact of drought on grass growth and milk production.
The support package offers rebates on agricultural inputs purchased from Terlan.
A discount of €40/ton applies to GAIN dairy feed; €10/ton for Irish rolled grain; €3/ton on direct feed; And 20 euros/ton on fertilizer purchases.
Rebates are available to all milk suppliers in Terlan, with no requirement to spend a cent per litre. Rebates will be added to trading accounts in September 2026.
Reasonable usage limits will apply.
The processor said ongoing drought in parts of the watershed has resulted in reduced grass growth, increasing the need for purchased feed and preserved feed.
“In response, Terlan has extended the deadline for the support package available to milk suppliers,” the company said.
Support now applies to eligible products ordered between July 10 and Friday, August 15 (before 1:00 PM) and delivered on or before August 19.
Milk volumes at processing sites have fallen below expected levels, while milk protein percentages have declined weekly over the past three weeks, Terlan said.
“This support package is designed to help farmers maintain herd performance, support milk production and protect valuable winter fodder reserves during these difficult conditions,” the cooperative said.
In addition to the financial support package, Terlan said its advisory teams are working with milk suppliers to provide advice on grassland management, nutritional strategies and feed planning.
Tirlán encourages suppliers to place final orders before 1:00pm on Friday 15 August, through their local Tirlán branch, their business manager, or online.
Speaking when the support package was announced earlier this month, Terlan’s chief agricultural business officer, Ailish Byrne, said the prolonged period of dry weather had “put significant pressure on many farms”.
“This package will help farmers respond to these challenges while preserving valuable winter fodder stocks,” she added.
“Our advisory teams are also working directly with suppliers to provide practical guidance on grassland management and nutrition over the coming weeks,” Byrne added.
