Canton’s decentralized application layer launches, supported by a $1 million foundation grant

July 28, 2026 – New York, United States

class=”ql-align-center”>BitSafe has released infrastructure for creators launching decentralized financial applications on the Canton Network.

Supported by A Canton Foundation Development Fund Scholarship More than $1 million ($8,500,000 CC), BitSafe Today opened the public beta of Decentralization Manager, an open source framework that allows applications and organizations to build elastic products that distribute control across multiple independent operators.

The Canton Network has become an important infrastructure for organizations that bring real capital and operations across the chain. Meeting enterprise application standards requires distributed audit trails and trust, but until now every team built in Canton had to build custody, governance and audit infrastructure from scratch. The Decentralized Manager makes those elements reusable, so teams build the application, not the infrastructure.

Independently audited by Quantstamp, the Decentralization Manager represents an exciting expansion of on-chain use cases and allows organizations to continue to benefit from the network’s native privacy architecture while mitigating risks through the distribution of their operations.

The decentralized manager comes with pre-built frameworks for token issuance and staking and enables additional products such as:

  • Token issuance: Issuers can launch and manage native tokens in Canton, ranging from wrapped crypto assets to stablecoins and RWAs.
  • Custody and multi-signature wallets: Teams can hold and transfer assets under joint, multi-party control, removing reliance on any single custodian.
  • Tokenized assets and securities in the real world: Builders can bring real-world assets onto the chain and manage them under distributed control.
  • DEXs, lending, and structured products: Organizations can launch enterprise-level financial applications using the DeFi Manager.

CBTC, Canton’s first non-native asset, is the first direct use case of the decentralized manager. With over 10 million transactions to date, CBTC-enabled node operators already receive a share of the Canton fees from on-chain transactions. The Decentralization Manager is now working to expand this opportunity across the network. App creators get an easier path to high-quality node operators who can support their products, and these operators get the same share of the Canton fees in return.

“The future of enterprise blockchain depends on making it easier to build and adopt cutting-edge infrastructure,” said Viv Diwakar, President of the Canton Foundation. “Through its open source DeFi Manager, BitSafe provides developers with the tools to build resilient applications that preserve privacy and distribute trust across independent operators without compromising the governance and oversight institutions they require. Contributions like these strengthen the Canton ecosystem and help accelerate the growth of institutional digital asset and tokenized financial markets. We are excited to see BitSafe making this capability available to the broader community and look forward to seeing the next generation of institutional applications built on Canton.”As of today, Palladium Labs is the first builder to be announced using a decentralization manager to enable multi-party licensing of protocol operations. “Distributed trust and full auditability are bets on the table for enterprise-level credit infrastructure like Alpend,” said Akshay Sinha, co-founder and CTO of Palladium Labs. “This Decentralization Manager creates a framework on which the entire Canton ecosystem can build. Adopting it was one of the easiest decisions we made.”

In addition to Palladium, CBTC consensus services Nethermind, DSRV, and Finoa Consensus Services have already implemented a decentralization manager. Their institutional participation underscores a collective effort across Canton to embrace decentralized technology that prioritizes data privacy, operational control, and resiliency.

The public beta is now open on the Canton Foundation’s GitHub, and an additional grant application is currently being submitted. Builders who need operators to complete their decentralized party can do so Contact us To BitSafe to be matched with vetted institutional node operators. Additional quotes from ecosystem partners:

“The CBTC Decentralized Party has shown how far Canton has come, and the opening of the public beta of the Decentralized Manager is a big step for the entire ecosystem. Setup was remarkably smooth for our team – deploying nodes was essentially one click away. For any application still running on a single validator, this is the easiest path we have seen to get past a single point of failure.” – Junkyu Kim, CTO, DSRV“As one of the notaries who secure CBTC, we have worked within BitSafe’s decentralized signing architecture from an early stage, so we have seen first-hand what it takes to distribute trust across independent operators in production. Joining the Decentralized Manager was straightforward, the management tools were intuitive and whenever we ran into an issue, the BitSafe team resolved it quickly and communicated all the way through.Organizations bringing real assets into Canton increasingly expect exactly this: the lack of a single point of control with audit trails and the operational flexibility their risk management teams demand. Making this type of infrastructure open and repeatable is a meaningful step for the ecosystem. – Mateusz Jedrzewski, CIO at Nethermind“BitSafe’s Decentralization Manager transforms the infrastructure we already run into a zero-point-of-failure setup, the kind that organizations have come to expect from Canton. We’re excited to expand our partnership with BitSafe and look forward to building more together as new applications join the network.” – Daniel Schrader, Managing Director, Finoa Consensus Services
