on Polymarket– A prediction market where contract prices behave like odds generated by crowds – Apple’s chance of ending July in first place rose more than 50% in almost a single day, to about 79%.
The share of Nvidia, now the second largest company on Earth, fell to about 22%, and the market attracted about $4.7 million in total trading volume.

At Tuesday’s close, Apple was valued at about $4.995 trillion, compared to Nvidia’s $4.768 trillion. This gives the iPhone maker a lead of about $227 billion.
That’s a lot of money. They are also small enough to disappear within one ugly trading session.
Apple has spent the past two years being ridiculed for being a latecomer to artificial intelligence. Suddenly, not writing blank checks to giant GPU farms seems less like inefficiency and more like risk management.
Investors are increasingly concerned about capital spending on artificial intelligence, or CAPEX, which is money companies spend on long-term assets such as chips, servers and data centers. Reuters Estimates Five major cloud companies could spend more on capital expenditures than they generate in free cash flow by 2027.
Nvidia is at the heart of that spending cycle. Its shares fell as investors cast doubt on reports that the chipmaker could provide roughly $250 billion in financial support for the OpenAI data center project, raising concerns that AI companies are increasingly financing their customers.
Apple isn’t ruling out artificial intelligence completely. Company Rebuilt Siri unveiled In early June with conversational and in-person context awareness features, partly relying on third-party models and their smaller on-device systems.
This strategy has previously been treated as evidence that Apple is losing the AI race. This week, it looks cheaper.
Nvidia is hardly dead. Data center revenue It rose 75% to $62.3 billion in the last reported quarter, proving that the demand for AI infrastructure remains enormous.
Apple will announce its third-quarter financial results on July 30 at 5 p.m. ET. The Polymarket contract is resolved based on which company has the largest market capitalization at the close of the market on July 31.
