Up to $5,000 per person after AI company accused of exposing 480,000 people in data breach


Serviceaide has agreed to settle a $1.8 million class action lawsuit to resolve claims arising from a 2024 data breach that allegedly exposed sensitive personal information of patients.

Serviceaide provides AI-powered digital solutions and works with organizations including Catholic Health, a New York-based health care system.

According to the lawsuit, the data breach exposed the data of 480,000 people, including Social Security numbers, medical records, and health insurance details.

The plaintiffs alleged that Serviceaide failed to implement reasonable safeguards to protect sensitive information and prevent unauthorized access.

Under the settlement, eligible class members can receive compensation for losses related to the accident. Those with documented expenses related to the breach can seek compensation of up to $5,000 for costs such as fraudulent charges, banking fees, credit monitoring services, and professional expenses.

Those who have not had documented losses may instead qualify for a cash payment of approximately $50. Class members can file a claim using this outlet.

Individual payments may increase or decrease depending on the number of valid claims submitted.

Serviceaide denies any wrongdoing but agreed to settle the case to avoid further lawsuits.

The deadline to file a claim is September 1, 2026. Requests for exclusions or objections must be submitted by August 17, 2026, and the final approval hearing is scheduled for September 16.
