Austrian machinery company Pottinger is known for its continued progress in the agricultural machinery market, which is clearly demonstrated by its updated mower range.
Agriland I recently visited Grieskirchen, Austria, Pottinger’s home, to see the machinery giant Innovations directly.
While there, Pottinger unveiled the newly updated Novacat T mower, as well as showcasing the relatively new automatic patch laying system for the Novacat V mowers, which was launched at Agritechnica 2025.
Both the Novacat T trailed mower and Novacat V mowers have been on the market for some time.
However, the new features that Pottinger brought to the market improved the efficiency of the group.
Novacat T trailing mower
The newly updated Novacat T trailed mower is now offered in 13 different models to suit buyers’ desires.
One big change is that the mower is now available as a 4m model, versus the 3.5m maximum in the previous range, although the 3m and 3.5m models are still available with the new updates.
The machine can be equipped with the option to adjust the cutting height hydraulically through the tractor cab.
This feature will increase efficiency during the tight silage period in Ireland, as changing cutting heights can be a tedious task, especially for contractors who regularly work in different environments.
Updated NOVACAT T trailer mower
The 3m and 3.5m models can be equipped with an adjustable speed conveyor belt controlled from within the cab, eliminating the need for an additional tractor unit and shovel.
The mower units are supported by its own chassis, which adapts to the ground three-dimensionally, allowing the cutting bar to glide over any bumps and provide a smooth cutting action, a feature highly sought after within the Irish market.
Farmers and contractors will be familiar with the pain of blades breaking without this feature.
The mower is mounted on a rotating gearbox and can also be fitted with collision protection to ensure it does not collide with the tractor when swinging over vertical terrain.
Meanwhile, US markets now have the option to purchase a hitch-equipped mower unit.
Depending on the model, buyers can choose ED or RC drum air conditioners.
Both pulleys within the HVAC system are driven synchronously using a rotary gearbox for maximum productivity.
Power is transmitted from the cut-off belt gearbox to the conditioner by V-belts with a spring-loaded belt tensioner.

Each model has adjustable swath doors, allowing both conditioning systems to either spread the crop widely or form a swath.
Buyers also have the option of purchasing the 3.5 and 4 meter models without air conditioning.

Pottinger has also recently launched the Automatic Patch Laying System for Novacat V mowers, another step towards efficiency which once again suits Ireland’s tight silage season.
Automated swath placement ensures that cross-conveyor belt mower combinations like the Novacat ED/RC Collector drop feed accurately into grouped spaces.
With so many transportation systems already on the market, you might be thinking, what’s innovative about this new system?
One of the biggest advances is how the intelligent system eliminates the need to manually switch the cross-link conveyor belt from left to right when switching cutting directions.

The automatic patching system does what it says on the tin; Automatically switches the cross-shift unit depending on the path being cut.
When contractors work long hours to get the silage cut before the weather turns, it’s easy for fatigue to take over and the operator to forget to change the conveyor.
This system reduces this fatigue and increases efficiency.
Speaking of efficiency, Pottinger also estimates that the system requires approximately 40% less dredging, which reduces fuel consumption and enhances efficiency for farmers and contractors.
The manufacturer also notes that skipping passes allows larger turning circles at the head, which reduces damage to the mountain as well as reducing soil compaction.

The manufacturer also notes that if the machine is equipped with Pottinger Connect, the mowing pattern will be displayed on a map in the Harvest Assist app.
This feature allows farmers to get the most out of their land, while also giving contractors an overview of cutting times that can help lay the foundation for cutting plans.
