How much will Elon Musk be worth after the SpaceX IPO?

Elon Musk is already the richest person on Earth by a wide margin. And after SpaceX’s IPO on June 12, he may become something no individual has ever been before: a trillionaire.

Where does he stand today?

According to Forbes’ Real-Time Billionaires Tracker, Musk’s net worth was about $788.8 billion as of June 2026, a number already so large that it barely registers as a real number. His wealth is spread across Tesla, where his shares and options are worth a combined $455 billion, and SpaceX, which has been privately owned until now.

Larry Page ranks second globally with approximately $300 to $334 billion, followed by Sergey Brin with approximately $285 billion. Not only does Musk top the list, he’s in a completely different category.

What an IPO adds

SpaceX is priced at $135 per share with a value of about $1.77 trillion, making it the largest initial public offering in financial history. Musk owns about 41% of the company. At the IPO valuation, his SpaceX stake alone is worth about $866.5 billion on paper, a figure confirmed in the company’s updated prospectus filed by the Securities and Exchange Commission this week.

Add in his Tesla holdings and other interests and analysts estimate Musk’s total net worth could exceed $1 trillion, potentially as high as $1.1 trillion depending on where SpaceX trades on listing day and in the following weeks. This would represent a gain of more than $300 billion from his current position and would make him the first person in recorded history to cross the $1 trillion threshold.

hunting

Musk’s SpaceX shares remain locked up for more than 12 months after the listing, meaning the paper wealth cannot be accessed immediately. Some other insiders have shorter lock-up periods and may be able to sell sooner.

SpaceX is also the first of three landmark listings expected this year. Both Anthropic and OpenAI are expected to go public at valuations approaching $1 trillion each. If the three lists succeed, the concentration of wealth at the top of the global rankings of billionaires will reach levels that have no historical precedent.

Right now, the world is watching June 12th. So will Elon Musk, who will wake up that morning as the richest person alive, and will likely end his day vastly richer.
