Weather alert: Now people can get some relief from the scorching heat that has been prevailing in many states including UP for the past few days. In the latest satellite images of the Meteorological Department (IMD), a large western disturbance is seen moving towards northern India.
Due to its impact, many states including UP may witness rain, strong winds, thunderstorms and drop in temperatures in the coming days. Large parts of Delhi, Rajasthan, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh have been hit by a heatwave over the past few days. In many cities, the temperature exceeded 45 degrees Celsius.
Large cloud cover over India
Images released on May 21 from IMD’s INSAT-3DS weather satellite showed widespread cloud cover and cyclonic activity over Afghanistan, Pakistan and northwest India. According to meteorologists, this is a clear indication that the western disturbances are getting stronger and gradually heading towards the Himalayan regions and northern India.
Satellite images show very intense cloud activity around northern Pakistan and Jammu and Kashmir. Apart from this, moisture from the Arabian Sea is also moving towards north India.
Chance of rain and dust storms in these states
The combination of western disturbances and moisture coming from the Arabian Sea could change the weather in many countries. Due to its influence, there is a possibility of thunder, strong winds, lightning, and light to moderate rain. A dust storm and hail storms may also occur in some areas.
According to the Meteorological Department, the weather may change over the next few days in Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and West Uttar Pradesh.
Signs of pre-monsoon
Experts say that this rain will not end the heat, but there may certainly be some drop in temperature. Especially since there will be a slight drop in temperature at night. Meanwhile, clouds can also be seen forming rapidly over northeastern India and the Bay of Bengal. Meteorologists consider this a sign of pre-monsoon activities.
The increasing cloud activity over the Arabian Sea and southern Bay of Bengal also shows that the environment is gradually becoming monsoon-friendly in the country. At present, the biggest relief news for the people of North India is that the weather may now take a turn amidst the scorching heat that has been going on for several days.
