The Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) has recalled a range of Divilly Brothers pork because it contains gluten (wheat), which is not declared in the ingredients list on some packaging.
This may make the batch unsafe for consumers who have an allergy or intolerance to grains containing gluten (wheat), and therefore, such consumers should not consume the batch in question.

According to the Irish Osteoporosis Society: “Celiac disease is a condition that causes some adults or children to react to gluten, the protein found in wheat, barley, oats and rye.
“If a celiac patient eats gluten, the lining of the small intestine is damaged, reducing the ability of celiac to absorb nutrients from certain foods.
“This can lead to various symptoms and complications if not diagnosed.”
According to the Health Service Executive (HSE), celiac disease is usually treated by cutting out foods containing gluten.
The HSE said those with celiac disease “must give up all sources of gluten for life”.
