A bail application is ready to go ahead for a man accused of the murder of Kerry farmer Michael Jane, Tralee District Court heard.
Michael Kelly, a US citizen of no fixed abode, appeared again in court today (Wednesday 6 May) via video link from Cork prison.
The 54-year-old is accused of murdering Michael Ginn on an unknown date between March 20 and March 21 2025 in Carrig, Kenmare, Co Kerry.
Kelly spoke during the short hearing to confirm his name and that he could see and hear the court. He also received his lawyer Batman.

Sergeant Chris Manton told Judge David Waters that the book of evidence in the case was still unavailable.
He added that the state requested that Michael Kelly be detained for an additional two weeks, with his consent.
Attorney Batman granted the request in courtPointing out that “he has no difficulty with that.”
The barrister told Justice Waters that the High Court bail application on behalf of his client was now “ready to proceed”.
The judge had previously noted that an application for bail on a murder charge cannot be made in the local court, and such applications must be made in the High Court.
Judge Waters granted the State’s application and remanded Michael Kelly in custody to appear again at Tralee District Court on May 20 via video link.

Michael Ginn was reported missing from his home near Kenmare, County Kerry, on 21 March 2025.
The baby and the 56-year-old sheep farmer was last seen in the town of Kenmare the day before.
On 29 April 2025, police upgraded their investigation into the missing Kerry farmer to homicide.
Gardai confirmed on 25 May that human remains found on land owned by Michael Jane were those of the missing farmer.
