A 30-year-old man died after being hit by a tractor in Cavan


A man in his 30s has died following a single-car collision with a tractor in Co. Cavan today (Sunday, May 3).

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision on a local road in Ardkill Beg, Carrickaboy.

Just before 12:40 p.m., police and emergency services responded to a single-vehicle collision with a tractor-trailer.

Gardaí said: “A driver (aged in his 30s) was pronounced dead at the scene.

“His body has since been transferred to Cavan Monaghan General Hospital and a post mortem examination will be carried out in due course.

“Garda forensic investigators attended the scene and an examination was carried out.”

Gardai appeal

Gardaí are appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision to come forward.

They said: “Road users who may have camera footage, including dashcam footage and were traveling in the area between 9.00am and 12.40pm are asked to make this available for investigation by gardaí.

“Investigations are continuing.”
